FWAA releases Freshman All-America Watch List

DALLAS (FWAA) – The Football Writers Association of America released its 2023 Freshman All-America Watch List today, selecting 62 freshman standouts from all 10 Division I FBS conferences plus Independents.

The FWAA  will unveil its 2023 Freshman All-America Team, sponsored by Chris Doering Mortgage, and the sixth annual Freshman of the Year Award in January.

Paced by five selections from Florida, the SEC led all conferences on the current watch list with 14 members, followed by the Atlantic Coast’s 11 and the Big 12’s seven. The Big Ten and Mountain West both finished with six, and the Pac-12 added five. No other conference had more than three players on the list. Of the 62 players represented, 33 are true freshmen.

Out of hometown states, Texas was the most represented with 10 selections. Georgia finished with eight, and California added five.
