Alabama is Cheez-It National Team of the Week
The Alabama Crimson Tide was electric at the start and the finish in toppling No. 2 Georgia, 41-34, in a prime-time SEC classic in Tuscaloosa last Saturday. For ending Georgia’s 42-game regular-season and 28-game regular-season conference win streaks, Alabama (4-0) has earned the Cheez-It National Team of the Week for games played the weekend of Sept. 28, as selected by the All-America Committee of the Football Writers Association of America.

Alabama offensive linemen are Outland Trophy National Players of the Week
Two of the historically-best programs for producing interior linemen clashed last week in Madison, Wis., but it was the Alabama Crimson Tide doing most of the pushing around in a 42-10 win over the Badgers. For creating the protection that turned its offense loose in a 407-total-yard effort with its mix of underclassman in the starting lineup, the Football Writers Association of America is awarding its Outland Trophy National Player of the Week honor to the entire Crimson Tide offensive line representing the games during the weekend of Sept. 14.

Freshman Focus: First-year player, coach preview
The Football Writers Association of America has released a list of top candidates for the Steve Spurrier First-Year Coach of the Year Award, Freshman Player of the Year and the 2024 FWAA Freshman All-America Team. The Steve Spurrier First-Year Coach Award, presented by Chris Doering Mortgage, goes to the best first-year coach (at his school) in FBS football. The recipients of the Steve Spurrier First-Year Coach of the Year, the FWAA Freshman of the Year and a Spurrier Legends Coach awardee will be honored at a special reception on Feb 25 in Gainesville, Fla.

Seven repeat honorees highlight 2023 FWAA All-America Team presented by the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic
The 2023 Football Writers Association of America All-America Team, presented in partnership with the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, is highlighted by seven repeat All-Americans and a record 10 players from the four teams competing in the College Football Playoff at the front of players from 36 different schools. There are 22 schools represented from eight Football Bowl Subdivision conferences on the first team and all 10 conferences plus an Independent are included on the overall 54-man team.
Twelve coaches named 2023 Eddie Robinson Award finalists
The Football Writers Association of America, in conjunction with the Allstate Sugar Bowl, announced 12 finalists for the 2023 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award on Tuesday. The award winner this season will be chosen from among a list that includes one repeat finalist and two other finalists from previous seasons, including one who is now a nine-time finalist. Eight of the finalists won conference championships this year, including three who will compete in the upcoming College Football Playoff; seven of the honorees are first-time finalists.
Game-winning touchdown pass earns Alabama Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Play of the Week
Arizona is the winner of the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Play of the Week for Week 13. The winning play is the Crimson Tide's game-winning touchdown pass on 4th-and-31.

Alabama's Campbell is Bronko Nagurski Trophy National Defensive Player of the Week
Alabama shut out Tennessee in the second half Saturday keyed by a career-best performance by linebacker Jihaad Campbell. For his 10 tackles and a fumble return for a touchdown in 'Bama’s 34-20 win, Campbell earned the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week honor for games during the weekend of Oct. 21, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.

FWAA unveils 2022 Freshman All-America Team
DALLAS (FWAA) – North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye was the toast of Atlantic Coast Conference quarterbacks this season, throwing for 38 touchdowns and leading the league in passing yards (4,321) and total touchdowns (45). For his dynamic efforts that led the Tar Heels (9-5) to the ACC’s Coastal Division title, the Football Writers Association of America awarded him as its Freshman Player of the Year presented by Chris Doering Mortgage.
FWAA, Goodyear Cotton Bowl unveil 2022 All-America Team
The 2022 Football Writers Association of America All-America Team, presented in partnership with the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, is headlined by nine first-teamers from the four teams competing in the College Football Playoff, three repeat All-Americans and a record 16 total selections from the Big Ten Conference. There are 19 schools represented from six Football Bowl Subdivision conferences on the first team and 34 different schools and eight conferences plus an Independent included on the overall 54-man team.
Alabama's Anderson Jr. repeats as Bronko Nagurski Trophy winner
For the second time in the award’s history, a repeat winner has claimed the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as Alabama linebacker Will Anderson Jr. has once again been chosen as the nation’s top defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club. The Southeastern Conference leader in sacks and tackles for loss will be honored Tuesday night with the award here.
Four finalists named for 2022 Bronko Nagurski Trophy
Four finalists for the 2022 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, one of them last year’s winner, another representing the top team in the current College Football Playoff rankings and two of the nation’s premier defensive linemen were named Wednesday by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club as candidates for the award honoring the nation’s top defensive player. One finalist’s team has already clinched a spot in his conference championship game and another can clinch a spot with a win on Saturday.

Future SEC football foes take the classroom to the field on Sept. 10
College football fans in Alabama and Texas are already counting down the days until Sept. 10 when the Crimson Tide plays the Longhorns in Austin in a preview of a future Southeastern Conference showdown. For eight sports media students – four from each school – this is a class project of a lifetime, boiling down months of Google tracking and Zoom calls into eight hours of fast-paced, locally produced game day coverage. It will be the first of this kind of collaboration by any two university sports media programs in the country.
