WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – For the fifth straight week, the University of Tampa Spartans received every first-place vote, sitting atop the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) top 25 in the sixth poll of the 2024 regular season. The Spartans are 22-2 on the season and have been the top-ranked team in all six in-season NCBWA polls this year, after checking in at #3 in the preseason poll.
The top seven teams are the same as last week, but in a different order this week, with Central Missouri climbing from third to second while West Texas A&M and Point Loma switched spots at four and five, with West Texas A&M checking in at #4. Young Harris and Ashland are new to the top 10 this week, with Young Harris climbing two spots and Ashland jumping seven spots from 17 to No. 10.
Defending national champion Angelo State continues to climb up in the poll, moving up from #15 last week to #11 this week. North Georgia moved up seven spots, checking in at #16 this week. There are four new teams in this week’s poll, led by #21 UNC Pembroke. Colorado Mesa, Seton Hill and Central Oklahoma are also new to the rankings this week, occupying the final three spots of the poll.
The NCBWA Region polls will be announced every Monday throughout the season, with a new top 25 national poll coming out every Wednesday.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication and writing contests.
